School admissions support and tutoring
I am Dr. Anne Allbright. I specialize in school admissions for the EU, British, Canadian, and US - American universities, plus American and British boarding schools. I also assist with private school admissions and learning. I provide tutoring, especially for those learning under the AP, British and IB curriculum.
Many students and parents don’t know where to start with school admissions. The process of researching schools and applying can be daunting and if you aren’t familiar with the pros and cons of each program and don’t know exactly what to look for. It would be easy to select the wrong program for yourself or child.
As an experienced educator of all ages, including at the university level, and as someone who is a trained university admissions counselor, I can provide valuable insight into a program’s strengths and weaknesses. It is important to look beyond the name of the school and take a deeper and more critical look at what teachers you or your child are likely to work with, who might serve as their mentor, what is the student teacher ratio, how strong the networking opportunities are, among other details, such as diversity, pricing and location.
Each student is different and this is why it is important to work with someone who can get to know you or your child more closely. With this type of attention, a specific program will be proposed. Working together with me and my small exclusive team, we can identify and guide you to apply to the right program. Working collectively is our best approach in securing a spot at a top university or in a private school program.

Clubs and internships that appeal to universities and private schools
Club participation and internship experience is important to start now. Certain clubs really grab the attention of school admissions officers, such as Model United Nations (MUN), student government, and clubs associated with your chosen academic path.
Schools do not like seeing on a student’s application a last minute effort to join a club in a desperate attempt to check off this box of what must be included on university admissions applications. Instead schools want to see a longer commitment, diversity and typically some leadership roles. This requires continued club participation of at least two years, and ideally two years prior to applying. Of course there are many other things to consider, which will be discussed during our sessions.
Taking the right approach is essential to come off as someone really invested in their academic and university endeavours. Understandably so, the more clubs you join and the more or longer internships or volunteering opportunities you take on, restrict your time for studying. This is why it is really important to develop good time management skills and goal setting. Thankfully, this is covered in our lessons, so you don’t feel too overwhelmed in this process, a process that can be highly enjoyable with the right attitude and approach. Because I also provide academic tutoring, I can help you manage all your academic needs as a highly skilled private tutor.
